Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is the maintenance and optimisation of health through nutrition. It involves using science based research and looking at the body as a whole, where all bodily systems are interconnected, this enables you to understand your health and wellbeing and achieve your desired goals.

A nutritional therapy consultation offers the chance to assess your overall health picture, looking at your full health and lifestyle history and building up a timeline of how your health has developed and evolved over time. It involves uncovering the root cause of your problems rather than simply looking at the symptoms.

I develop a consultation programme that is completely unique to you, approaching you as an individual and considering your whole health picture rather than focusing simply on any condition you may present with.

What happens before my first consultation?

A health questionnaire and food diary will be sent to you to complete prior to your consultation. The questions require in depth detail and the information provided will help me assess your health history and guide me in the help I can provide to you.

What happens during my first consultation?

The initial consultation lasts for one hour. During this time, I will examine any current symptoms, medical history, lifestyle habits, and overall dietary picture. I will ask you to specify any health goals you have or areas of your health you are hoping to focus on so that you can leave with clear, concise and relevant knowledge and confidence in implementing your individualised nutrition plan.

What happens after my consultation?

A detailed nutritional programme will be sent within 72 hours of your initial appointment . This will include informations sheets, recipes and any resources that I think will help support your nutritional programme. You may also receive a personalised supplement plan if I feel that you need  extra support.

How many consultations will I need?

This varies between clients and is dependent on your own goals. I offer different packages depending on your current needs. Nutritional therapy is a step-by-step process, working towards an end goal which is difficult to quantify as each person responds differently.

Follow-up consultations are usually 30 minutes.  These consultations provide you opportunity to ask any questions about your ongoing programme, discuss your progress and any changes you are experiencing or perhaps go through any test results you have. You will receive another updated and adjusted plan after your follow up consultation.

Will I need any additional tests?

I may discuss with you the potential of functional or nutritional health tests, which could help uncover and support your health goals. Tests may require a sample of blood, urine, stool, hair, or saliva.
